(More customer reviews)The solar panels work, but don't buy the diverter unless you have to!I put it together and took it apart multiple times because it was the only thing that leaked after I had the entire system set up.Maybe I was doing something wrong, but its pretty simple to put together.One thing, don't be fooled by the photos.The panels will not set up nicely against the side of your pool by themselves like the promo pictures show.(Unless someone out there knows a trick) and no one out there sells racks pre-made, so you will have to make due with placing the panels at an angle against the pool the best you can or on the ground.But in one day, with one set of 4x10ft (that's all I have room for), the temperature of the pool with the use of a solar cover, went up 5 degrees with the pump only running about 6 hours.

There were two disappointments though. One is that Amazon's photo of the product shows an on-off switch positoned on the cord and you would think that you could leave the mat plugged in all the time, just switching it on/off as needed. The mat we received has no mid-cord control and must be turned on and off by stepping outside and unplugging or plugging it in. Big difference since our outlet is not convenient to use, and no good for energy savings, either.The other disappointment is that right out of the box, the Heat Trak smells very strongly of rubber and has continued to smell for 4 weeks. We get a whiff every time we open the door.Additionally, we got this so that our dog would have a warm dry spot to wait until we let her in. Instead, she avoids the mat and has never yet sat on it.

SmartPool SunHeater for Above Ground Pools Review

Each panel is supposed to put out 40k BTU, so each set = 80k BTU
Multiply x4 sets = 320,000 BTU

I only have 5 panels installed now
I'm located about 20 miles south of Boston, MA
My pool was 55 degrees 5 days before Memorial Day
On Memorial day the pool was 76 degrees
Today the pool was right around 88 degrees

I have the panels setup in 2 systems
1st 2 panels are connected to the pool pump & filter & can be easily bypassed
I can also divert the water into a hot tub, which is also solar heated
The next 3 panels are setup with a seperate pump ~500gph
Each set is on a different side of the pool
This maximixes the solar heat thru the day

These systems are very easy to setup & connect
I've hads mine running since 2005...free heat every year
Longer swimming season & more comfortable

I have 2 hot tubs that are solar heated
The one by the pool I usually divert water from the pool to keep it below 98
Extra water/heat goes to the pool
The 2nd tub is by the house & tops out at 110 if I run it all day
I only run it for a few hours every other day now

I bought several sets off EBAY -$125 for (2) 2'x20' panels
I have an inground pool, these are labeled for above ground
But they work just fine....don't pay extra for the "inground" panels

Dimplex Chelsea DCF7850B Corner Standing Electric Fireplace, Black Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this fireplace to replace a larger corner gel fuel fireplace that I'd retrofitted with glowing electric logs. I wanted something smaller and with a flame effect. This is a good-looking, solid piece of furniture that comes ready to plug in--absolutely no assembly required. Shipping was free, and the delivery man took it out of the packing for me so that I could make sure it was undamaged and that it worked. That was an unexpected extra.

FLAMES AND REALISM
The flames are fairly realistic, but you do have to be fairly close to the fireplace. When I'm across the room, I see the glow and flicker but not the flames, I suspect this is because the firebox is higher up, and if I were looking down on it, I would see the flames. (I base that supposition on the fact that I have a small electric stove in my bedroom, and the flames are easily visible from anywhere in the room, whether I am standing or lying in bed.) Had I realised, I probably would have bought a different fireplace with the firebox closer to floor level; however, it's not enough to make me want to send the fireplace back. The flames switch on and off with a remote. I haven't figured out whether the remote also controls the heater, but I don't think so.

Something to note with all electric fireplaces I've seen is that the mirror at the back (which gives the illusion that the flames are coming up from between logs) and the glass covering the firebox reflect what's in the room, which interferes with the illusion. My fireplace looks more realistic at night in low light, when it doesn't reflect the polished wood floor. My bedroom has dark blue carpet which simply reflects as dark and the flame effect of the stove is therefore more realistic at all times of day.

HEAT
I've turned the heat on to make sure it works, but it's not heater weather yet, so I can't comment on its heating ability in a cold room. I doubt it's powerful enough to be the sole heat source for my quite large living/dining room, but it will be fine as an auxiliary heater. And anyway, heating wasn't a prime consideration for me: I bought the fireplace for ambience rather than practicality.

BULB REPLACEMENT
I haven't actually done it, but from the directions it's much easier than bulb replacement in my little electric stove. The bulbs are standard candelabra bulbs with the small base, which are available in any supermarket and therefore more convenient than the halogen bulbs used by the stove.

BOTTOM LINE
An attractive addition to my living room. But if you have $2,000 to spend, look into the Dimplex Opti myst. Developed in Europe and previously sold only there, it is now available in the U.S. The technology creates an astoundingly realistic flame and smoke effect. Beyond my price range unfortunately.
